BLACK ANISE SEED

Black Anise Seeds grow wild in the La Sila Mountain region, located in the centre of Calabria, Italy.

This is the only area of Italy where they grow and in order to obtain these precious seeds, we use the experience our family has gained, working with local pickers, who have passed on their skills for many generations.

 

Black Anise Seeds are one of the oldest known seeds, they are tiny, crescent shaped with a liquorice-like strong taste. Very pungent, they are not to be confused with regular anise.

 

They are an important ingredient for many Calabrians’ around the world, who treasure the recipes that their parents and grandparents made using this precious seed. We are grateful to be a part of this history, ensuring these traditions are continued for many years to come.
